Migration: An Exploration in Arts, Words and Music Inspired by Jacob Lawrence
The Pam Ortiz Band will be joined by our frequent collaborators,  Sombarkin (Karen Somerville, Lester Barrett Jr., and Jerome McKinney), Robert Earl Price, and Tom and Ray Anthony, as we reprise our concert version of Red Devil Moon at the Garfield Center for the Performing Arts in Chestertown.  These performances will be part of Migration: An Exploration in Arts, Words and Music Inspired by Jacob Lawrence. The first half of each show will feature staged readings of several mini-plays inspired by the work of Jacob Lawrence, a painter known for his portrayal of African-American life and for his 60-panel Migration series. The second half of the performance will feature our concert version of Red Devil Moon.

Red Devil Moon is an original musical with a book by Robert Earl Price and music and lyrics by Pam Ortiz. Inspired by Jean Toomer’s 1923 novel, CaneIf you missed our performances in 2016 at the New York International Fringe Festival, be sure to join us at the Garfield.  The show continues to grow and evolve.
